Downed plane and pilot found after 6 hour search in southern Indiana

ORANGE COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) — A pilot survived the crash of the plane he was flying Saturday in southern Indiana and it took more than six hours for rescuers to find him.

According to a press release from Indiana State Police, at around 10 p.m., the department was contacted by the Louisville airport and the FAA about a possible downed aircraft near the border of Lawrence and Orange counties.

Emergency responders searched through the night in a heavily wooded area. At around 4:00 a.m. the plane, a Lancair fixed wing plane, was found with the pilot still inside; suffering from non-life-threatening injuries…
