Metro Louisville considering shift from park rangers to park police

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A year after Mayor Craig Greenberg, D-Louisville, created the park ranger service, city leaders are moving to change the service. Metro Louisville’s Public Safety Committee approved an ordinance that would turn the city’s park rangers into full-fledged police officers.

Park rangers are authorized to enforce the law, and they can make arrests.
