LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Saturday kicked off Louisville’s fourth annual Tree Week, an effort to educate the community and celebrate what trees do for the city.
The Kentucky Arborists’ Association spent the day in Shelby Park, pruning trees, holding tree climbing and safety competitions and educating the community on the importance tree preservation.
“We’ve had the Kentucky Tree Climbing Championship in Louisville, Lexington, Danville, all of those places,” said Cory Petry, a Louisville arborist and repeat champion climber at the annual Kentucky Tree Climbing Championship. “Every place in between has trees at people’s houses that need care.
