JCPS says free breakfast, lunch services for Louisville kids will continue through November

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Jefferson County Public Schools reminded families Friday that the district will continue to serve free meals for students in November despite the continuing government shutdown.

All JCPS students are eligible for free breakfast and lunch through the Community Eligibility program. It feeds about 50,000 students at breakfast each day and 80,000 students at lunch.

Those numbers are expected to rise, though, as SNAP benefits are set to be cut off Saturday as the government shutdown stretches into a second month in Washington. The program is federally funded, but the district said it has enough money to get through November…
