Names of victims in fatal UPS plane crash released

The names of all 14 victims in the fatal crash of UPS Flight 2976 in Louisville, Kentucky, were released by Mayor Craig Greenberg during a Nov. 12 news conference.

The release comes a little over a week after the crash, which destroyed part of an industrial district located behind the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport. Preliminary details released by the National Transportation Safety Board indicate the left engine of the plane detached during takeoff Nov. 4 before bursting into flames, killing all crew members aboard. The plane cleared a fence at the back of the airfield before skidding for roughly half a mile, destroying at least two businesses.

Greenberg said previously that officials at the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office were working as quickly as possible to identify the victims, but some bodies were so severely burned that DNA testing had to be conducted to confirm their identities…
