UPS pilot killed in plane crash honored before remains taken back to Texas

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – One of the pilots killed in the deadly crash of UPS 2976 in Louisville was honored before a flight took his remains back to his home.

UPS 2976 crashed after the MD-11’s left engine fell off during the critical V2 to roll phase, investigators said. The pilots were unable to abort take off. The plane then crashed into two businesses, creating a giant fireball.

A total of 14 people were killed in the crash on Nov. 4, 2025. Three of the 14 were pilots onboard the aircraft.
