Nearly all of state’s lowest performing schools are in JCPS

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Across the board, Kentucky is showing improvements in testing and education rates, but there is still room for more to be done. The Assessment and Accountability Report, released Wednesday, shows an increase in schools are underperforming on state tests. A vast majority of them are in Jefferson County.

The state identifies schools that are federally classified as Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI), meaning they are in the bottom five percent of all schools in the state for test scores and/or low attendance.

Of the 53 schools listed in this year’s assessment, 41 are in the state’s largest district, Jefferson County Public Schools. That’s roughly a quarter of all the district’s 168 schools and is an increase from 34 CSI schools in 2022…
