LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Vienna family is feeling especially thankful this Thanksgiving, as their most recent addition graduated from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Norton Children’s Hospital just two days ahead of the holiday.
Draven Rockwell was born at Baptist Health Paducah at 24 weeks, weighing just 1 pound, 13 ounces. According to Avery Pryor, a neonatology nurse practitioner with Norton Children’s, Draven was considered extremely premature.
Draven was transferred to Norton Children’s as it was the nearest NICU that would accept such an early age. He was originally estimated to go home in early to mid December, but graduated two days before Thanksgiving. He spent 127 days in total at the hospital.
At the time of his graduation, Draven weighed 9 pounds, 3 ounces. “We have full confidence that Draven is going to thrive at home,” Pryor said…
