WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ind. — An Indiana mother charged with murder in the tragic death of her son has had her case dismissed in Washington County. She will now be charged in Kentucky.
The body of 5-year-old Cairo Ammar Jordan was found in April 2022 when a mushroom hunter found a suitcase with the child’s remains stuffed inside. Investigators say his mother, Dejaune Anderson, put his body in the suitcase before dumping it in rural Washington County.
Investigation into Anderson
For months, investigators were unable to identify the boy’s remains. Then, six months later, in October 2022, the body was identified as Cairo Jordan. An autopsy found that the boy died from an “electrolyte imbalance,” most likely from “a viral gastroenteritis.”
Police immediately arrested Anderson’s friend, Dawn Coleman, and launched a search for the mother, who remained on the run…
