‘I’m calling it emotional whiplash’: JCPS board to vote on pausing school closure plan

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The Jefferson County Public Schools board will meet Tuesday night to vote on pausing the superintendent’s plan to close and consolidate some schools. District leaders said the proposal would save $4 million as they work to address a $188 million budget deficit.

Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) leaders had proposed closing Zachary Taylor Elementary and Liberty High schools. As part of the proposal, King and Maupin Elementary Schools would have merged.
