Louisville rides program gives seniors their independence back

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — According to the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging, roughly 600,000 older adults stop driving each year. That sudden loss of transportation independence can lead to isolation issues and health concerns.

One group in Louisville is working to change that by providing low-cost, flexible and accommodating rides to an array of locations throughout Louisville.

Veteran and community activist Shedrick Jones comes to Kosair Shriners every Wednesday to reconnect with his fellow vets and support his community.

“It is really painful when you try and do something to help somebody else or to help the community and it takes you five hours to go and make an appearance and participate and get back. It takes the whole day,” said Jones…
