Exoneree pushes for compensation from state, plans to push back against other charges

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Dec. 19 marked 14 years since Kerry Porter Sr. was exonerated for a murder he did not commit. He said to this day, he is still dealing with the impacts, and hopes the state of Kentucky will do more to compensate people in his position.

Porter served almost 15 years behind bars after being wrongfully convicted for the 1996 murder of a man named Tyrone Camp.

Although he’s been out of jail almost the same amount of time he was in, he says his work hasn’t stopped. He’s now hoping to get his name cleared on another charge, too…
