LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Power has been fully restored to a high-rise public housing building nearly a week after an electrical fire caused power to be lost to large portions of the building ahead of a cold snap.
The fire happened last Saturday, Dec. 27, at St. Catherine Court. Power was restored to the first floor by Sunday afternoon, and at the time, officials with Louisville Metro Housing Authority said they expected power to be restored by Monday but a critical part prevented that repair from being made.
Officials said 144 residents were displaced as they searched for the rare replacement part. Those residents were either temporarily relocated to local hotels with their stays covered or stayed with friends and family and received a rental concession and gift cards…
