‘Not going to accept the status quo’: Proposed law could split up JCPS

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Tension between JCPS and the Kentucky General Assembly has been brewing for quite some time.

Legislation from state lawmakers over the last three years have put the district under a microscope. A new law put life into the possibility that JCPS will be broken up into smaller school districts.

“We’ve been going along to get along with JCPS for a very long time,” Representative Jared Bauman, R-Jefferson County and the sponsor of House Bill 11, said. “The status quo is simply not acceptable.”…
