EPA announcement for Kentucky gas requirement doesn’t include Louisville counties

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Correction (Jan. 9, 2026): Earlier reports stated that the EPA had approved Kentucky’s request to lift the reformulated gas requirement for Jefferson, Oldham, and Bullitt counties, including Louisville. That is incorrect.

The EPA’s recent announcement applies to a different area of Kentucky. The clarification was issued by Angela L. Billings and the Senate Majority Caucus. Officials say they are continuing to monitor any changes that could affect the Louisville region.
