Louisville community honors 2025 victims of violence with remembrance ceremony

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A somber yet powerful gathering took place Thursday evening at Bates Memorial Church as community members remembered those who have lost their lives to violence in Louisville.

Photos and names of each victim were displayed throughout the church, serving as both a tribute to their lives and a reminder of the community’s responsibility to end violence.

“It’s more than just a number. I talked to a mother just right before I came here today and she was just talking about you know, I don’t want my son to be just a number. And so that’s what we are trying to do at OVP, making your son not just a number,” said Nannette Dix, with the city’s Office of Violence Prevention. “It’s just real hard, not just for the parents, but for the community. Losing a child over nothing, senseless, you know? And it’s still happening.”…
