JCPS board approves closing 2 elementary schools

Jefferson County Board of Education members have approved closing two schools at the end of this school year, making a small dent in the massive budget deficit the district is currently operating under.

King and Zachary Taylor elementary schools, which collectively serve nearly 600 students, will close after all but two board members voted in favor during a Jan. 20 meeting. They additionally approved moving Liberty High from its current location on Atkinson Square Drive to Male High’s campus.
