Louisville Mayor pledges plows for ‘neighborhood streets’

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — If you are wondering why one major street has been plowed but the street next to it looks like the tundra, the mayor says he’s changing the snow plan. The private contractor that the city hired, with 10 crews, will tackle some streets not on the city’s snow routes.

“We’re going to keep them around for another 24 hours, just so we can do some of that additional cleanup work,” Mayor Craig Greenberg said. “Whether it’s at intersections, whether it’s slick spots, or whether it’s some roads that we think we need to get to, even if they’re not on the snow route for one reason or another.”

Wes Sydnor, head of Metro Public Works, said the extra snow routes will prioritize schools, hospitals, and high-traffic workplaces such as UPS. He added that neighborhoods may still see plows if there’s a nearby crash or if the area includes a hill.
