LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The snowstorm and cold weather have slowed down or canceled a lot of events across the Metro and is also postponing a life-altering deadline for dozens of families.
Thirty families throughout Louisville were supposed to be evicted by the end of January. But the recent snowstorm and freezing temperatures have led the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office to order landlords to not enforce evictions until at least Feb. 2.
“Yes, I’m affected by it, financially speaking,” said Louisville landlord Jon Hayes. “If somebody’s not paying their rent today, here’s the truth, a lot of these evictions that are taking place today, they started all the way back at Thanksgiving. You know, so that stuff’s just now rolling out. We’ve just had our hearings recently, so there is that side of it.”…
