Earlier this month, Kentucky State Treasurer Mark H. Metcalfe announced $41.7 million in unclaimed property returned to rightful owners in 2025. Kentucky Baptist churches are among those who can have money returned to them in 2026.
A random search of some Kentucky Baptist Convention churches revealed amounts ranging from less than $10 to more than $100. A search of various churches in Owensboro, Elizabethtown, Louisville and Frankfort found some churches can retrieve funds from as many as four sources.
Churches will find money that can be refunded to them related to outstanding checks, refunds or rebates, credit balance and accounts receivable.
