LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Crews worked in sub-zero wind chills and in snowy terrain to rescue a driver of a semi-truck after a crash left their cab hanging over an Oldham County creek bed.
According to a social media post by the Pewee Valley Fire Protection District, crews were called to the intersection of Ash Avenue and Old Henry Road around 6 a.m. on Jan. 31.
At the scene, crews found a semi off the road with the cab suspended several feet above the creek bed. Officials say the semi crashed this way after, for a reason not yet known, it failed to stop, crossed the roadway, and became airborne before hitting an embankment.
Pewee Valley Fire said because of the rugged terrain and location of the tractor, they called in South Oldham Fire to assist. Crews secured the cab with stabilization struts, cleared the trees and brush with chainsaws and used a rope system to remove the driver from the wooded area after they were removed from the cab…
