Multiple schools in Kentucky announce closures for Monday

KENTUCKY — Schools across Kentucky have announced a mix of closings, delayed starts and remote learning days for Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, as the state continues to deal with the aftermath of heavy snow, ice and bitter cold from this month’s winter storm.

In Louisville and Jefferson County, Jefferson County Public Schools said students will start school two hours later than normal Monday. Buses will run on an adjusted schedule, and officials asked families to plan for extra travel time and confirm bus route details.

Elsewhere in the state, many districts are keeping schools closed for the day. Several systems are marking Monday as a non-traditional instruction (NTI) day, meaning students will complete schoolwork remotely, while others are calling it a traditional snow day with no instructional expectations…
