LMPD: Man arrested after stealing car running in driveway, crashing it

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – A man was arrested after Louisville Metro Police say he stole a car at gunpoint after the owner left it running in the driveway. It’s a good example of why law enforcement encourages you not to leave your car running in cold temperatures.

According to arrest citations, Stephfon L. Groves and a co-defendant spotted a car running in the driveway in the 4500 block of Accomack Drive.

Groves’ friend stayed back and watched as he walked toward the running vehicle with the intent to take it. At that time the owner of the home came out and ran toward his vehicle. Groves pulled a weapon on the owner and then fled the scene in the vehicle, stopping to pick up his friend…
