A Louisville man was accused of assaulting ICE. The jury didn’t buy it

A jury found a Cuban man not guilty last month of assaulting two Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers who were attempting to arrest him at the citizenship office in downtown Louisville.

Federal prosecutors secured an indictment against Laryen Torres-Carmona in September, charging the 26-year-old with two counts of assaulting, resisting or impeding federal officers.

The charges stemmed from an altercation on Aug. 26, during which Torres-Carmona was accused of shoving two deportation officers from Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) at the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office on South Fourth Street…
