Kentucky bill aims to make public drag performances a crime

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — House Bill 360 makes public drag performances illegal and creates penalties for violating the measure. The bill would ban adult performances that are described as sexually explicit and involve male and female impersonators in public.

HB 360 adds penalties for violating the measure, making it a Class B misdemeanor on the first offense, Class A misdemeanor for the second offense, and Class D felony on the third offense and every following violation.

The bill was introduced by Republican Representative Scott Sharp who covers parts of Boyd and Lawrence counties in Eastern Kentucky. A total of eight legislators are listed as sponsors of the bill, including Republican Representative John Hodgson who covers parts of Jefferson County; Republican Representative Josh Calloway who covers Breckinridge and Hardin counties; and Republican Representative Nancy Tate who covers parts of Hardin and Meade counties…
