HBO documentary pulls back curtain on gruesome Old Louisville murder

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – HBO is bringing a notorious Kentucky crime to the small screen with a two-part documentary series based on a bestselling true crime book.

“Murder in Glitter Ball City,” inspired by author David Dominé’s book “A Dark Room in Glitter Ball City,” debuts Thursday on HBO. Dominé served as a consultant on the project.

The documentary examines the 2010 killing of James Carroll, a hair stylist and local drag performer, whose body was discovered buried in a rubber bin in the wine cellar of a Victorian mansion in Louisville’s Old Louisville neighborhood…
