Kentucky Nurses Association expresses safety concerns following incident at St. Matthews hospital

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – The Kentucky Nurses Association expressed concern for the safety of medical workers following a Wednesday morning shooting at a St. Matthews hospital.

The incident occurred at Baptist Health Louisville around 5:30 a.m. when Mystic Rayne of Frankfort, who had been airlifted to the hospital, obtained a handgun and fired four shots in her room, according to police.

A police dispatcher received the call around 5:30 a.m. reporting shots fired. Due to the number of calls received, the incident was upgraded to an active shooter call, which police said may have caused confusion…
