Piece of Martha Washington’s wedding dress on display at Louisville museum

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A special piece of American history is now on display in Louisville but only for a limited time.

“On Jan. 6, 1759, George Washington married a wealthy widow named Martha Dandridge Custis at the bride’s estate in New Kent County, Virgina,” the Frazier History Museum said Monday. “Thirty years later, Martha Washington came to occupy the role now called First Lady – setting the precedent for what that position meant in the early days of the republic.”

Now, a small piece of Martha Washington’s wedding dress is here in Louisville…
