What we know about investigation into Louisville garbage truck death

Officials are investigating after a homeless woman died from injuries caused by a city garbage truck in west Louisville on Feb. 12.

The woman — identified as 35-year-old Tyrah Adams — was in the vicinity of Eddy Street, an alley near the intersection of South 26th Street and Muhammad Ali Boulevard, and reportedly could not be seen amid refuse while a Louisville Metro Department of Public Works crew was operating equipment on a dump truck. Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said she was “in” garbage the truck picked up and eventually put down.

The death has sparked outrage in the community, with advocates for Louisville’s unhoused population and the victim’s family saying it was preventable and calling for accountability…
