Arrests follow bust of alleged chop shop ring in Louisville’s south end

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Police make arrests in an alleged chop shop ring in Louisville’s south end. On Wednesday, Chief Paul Humphrey described it as a “large-scale operation” involving stolen cars from multiple states and Canada.

“They were actively in the process of literally chopping these cars up into separate parts,” Humphrey said. “And then they sell the parts individually for the profit, as opposed to selling the entire car. Makes it much more difficult to track once you’ve broken that up into parts. And so, that’s basically how that was working.”

Five people have been arrested so far…
