Louisville man sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to several gun, drug charges

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville man was sentenced to several years in prison after pleading guilty to several gun and drug charges, officials from the U.S. Attorney’s Office with the Western District of Kentucky said.

Officials said 52-year-old Sukhjit Bains was sentenced to 15 years in prison with five years of supervised release. He pleaded guilty to:

  • two counts of trafficking in firearms
  • two counts of distribution of 50 grams or more of a mixture of methamphetamine
  • one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime
  • two counts of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person
  • one count of illegal possession of a machine gun, specifically, a 3D-printed Glock type machine gun conversion device

On Nov. 28, 2024, officials with the attorney’s office said Bains sold nine firearms about about two ounces of meth to a confidential law enforcement source. A couple weeks later on Dec. 12, he sold another six firearms and about two ounces of meth to a confidential law enforcement source.

Then on Jan. 10. 2025, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Bains’ former business, according to the attorney’s office. When officers searched the business, they found 31 guns and meth…
