Highlands Metro Councilmember: Weekend citations, arrests ‘send clear message’

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Last weekend’s citations and arrests come after reported street takeovers and a fight outside Taco Bell along Bardstown Road last summer. This sparked an increased police presence.

Multiple citations and arrests came from ‘unsafe behavior’. The Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) told WHAS11 News most of the citations issued were for open alcoholic containers in public, public intoxication and people blocking traffic. LMPD said many of the arrests were for disorderly conduct, obstructing police, marijuana possession and traffic offenses.

Videos circulating social media showed heavy pedestrian traffic along the busy roadway both Friday and Saturday night.
