LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Pat’s Steak House will close its doors on Oaks Friday and Derby Saturday for the first time in decades after Churchill Downs moved the Oaks post time nearly three hours later.
The restaurant on Brownsboro Road has been a Derby Week destination for nearly 70 years. Owner Pat Francis said the decision to close came after Churchill Downs shifted the Oaks post time from 5:51 p.m. last year to 8:40 p.m. this year.
“We’ve done many, many Derbies. People that have won the Derby have celebrated here. We have regular customers who’ve been coming here for 40, 50 years — and they’re good friends,” Francis said…
