Southern Indiana man sentenced to federal prison in multiple fraud schemes

New Albany, In. (WAVE) – Joseph M. Merk, 38 of Southern Indiana, was sentenced to 4.5 years in federal prison, which will be followed by two years of supervised release. Merk pled guilty to four counts of wire fraud, one count of bank fraud, one count of aggravated identity theft, and two counts of tax evasion. He was ordered to pay a total of $492,229.14 in restitution.
