A Lubbock County grand jury has indicted a 78-year-old man arrested in April in connection with the shooting death of his 37-year-old son, whom he told police officers had threatened to kill him after he opened a new bank account to keep him from stealing his Social Security money.
Michael Vernie Owens, who has been out on bond since Monday, faces a charge of murder in the April 22, death of his son, Michael Joseph Owens at his home in the 1600 block of 126th Street.
