Pedestrian, police officer injured in early morning crash

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Lubbock Police Department’s Major Crash Unit is investigating a crash involving a police car and a pedestrian in the 7000 block of North I-27 southbound access road.

At 5:01 a.m., officers were responding to a business near the Preston Smith airport for a report of an intoxicated man that was reportedly bothering employees. As they approached the scene, one of the officers struck a pedestrian walking along the access road of I-27 just north of the business.

The initial investigation shows the pedestrian involved was the same person the officers were dispatched to check on. Officers immediately provided medical care until EMS arrived. The man was taken to UMC with serious injuries. The officer suffered minor injuries…
