LUBBOCK, Texas — The South Plains Food Bank has been awarded a Blue Impact grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas as a part of a broader statewide effort to improve community health and reduce food insecurity.

“As the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas approaches a century of serving communities across the state, we recognize the critical role access to nutritious food plays in overall health,” said BCBSTX President Jim Springfield. “We’re pleased to support organizations like South Plains Food Bank that are working to reduce hunger and expand access to healthy good options. Their efforts are making a meaningful difference for individuals and families across Texas.”

The funding will support the food bank’s shift towards a partner-centered distribution model, strengthening its network of local agencies that serve a community of 19 counties. Grant funds will be used to purchase nutritious food and ensure consistent and dignified access for families facing rising costs and food insecurities.
