Xcel Energy receives $113 million grant to upgrade power infrastructure across South Plains and Panhandle

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Xcel Energy’s Southwestern Public Service Company, which serves customers across the South Plains and the Panhandle, will receive $113 million in grant funding to protect and upgrade its electric infrastructure.

The grants will fund projects to repair or replace power poles, increase protections in higher-risk areas of the electric distribution system and improve system monitoring.
