Two traveling veterinarians are bringing Lubbock’s first specialty referral clinic

LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock keeps welcoming new businesses, and now the city’s growing veterinary industry is getting a boost as well.

Drs. Kirk and Kheli Sears are a husband-and-wife veterinary team bringing West Texas Veterinary Specialist, the region’s first dedicated veterinary specialty referral center to Lubbock. Kirk Sears, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM), is currently the only board-certified veterinary specialist practicing in the region. The new specialty center will expand access to advanced veterinary care for pets throughout West Texas and the surrounding reigon.

“The specialty world in Vet medicine, it’s not quite as specialized as human medicine… and I’m an internal medicine specialist… They (people) have heart specialists, cardiologists, cancer specialists, etc… And that’s what we’re trying to do, bring multidisciplinary specialty care to West Texas,” Kirk said.
