Progress Report: Lubbock’s Loop 88
Loop 88, a 12.4-mile expanse just west of US 84, is the city’s response to its growing population. By strengthening the transportation abilities and overall flow of the county, traffic won’t feel so congested every day.
Construction for Loop 88 is already underway and was conducted in three separate phases. Here’s a map showing where each phase begins and ends. For our purposes, we want to focus on phase 3.
Phase three is where the major construction and delays currently reside. In fact, Avenues U and P will become an all-way stop intersections beginning on Wednesday, October 7.
The roadway from Avenue P to Avenue U will undergo a restriping, converting the stretch of road back to two-way traffic. The ultimate goal is to connect Avenue U to FM 1585 through a Loop 88 frontage road…
