James Bennett, a 6-foot-7, 300-pound offensive tackle out of Longmont (CO) Mead, recently announced he received an offer from Texas Tech, with general manager James Blanchard extending the scholarship.
The offer was Bennett’s first from a Big 12 program, and he quickly set up a visit to Lubbock. He will be in town on October 17 for the game against Arizona State.
“Honestly, it came pretty unexpectedly,” Bennett said, regarding his offer from the Red Raiders. “I hadn’t really had much communication with Texas Tech before the offer. Their GM, James Blanchard, reached out to my high school coach first and talked with him about me. Then he reached out to me, and when we talked he offered me a scholarship. It was definitely a surprise, but a really exciting one. Since then I’ve been looking forward to learning more about Texas Tech and getting down there for a visit.”…
