Texas DPS honors trooper who gave ‘ultimate sacrifice’ two years ago

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety remembered the second anniversary of Trooper Anthony Salas’s passing in the line of duty in a social media post on Monday.

Trooper Salas died on January 22, 2022, in a car accident while he was working with the US Border Patrol on Operation Lone Star.

In the post, Texas DPS thanked Trooper Salas for giving the “ultimate sacrifice” and took the time to remember the memories he gave the department.

Trooper Salas is survived by his parents, wife and three children. DPS also said Salas’s passing made him the 226th DPS officer to pass away in the line of duty since 1823.
