Separate crashes with 18-wheelers reported in Lubbock Co. on Tuesday

LUBBOCK, Texas — The westbound lanes of U.S. 62 were blocked just east of Idalou after two separate crashes on Tuesday. The Texas Department of Public Safety said minor to moderate injuries were reported.

According to DPS, two separate semi-trucks jackknifed on the highway near FM 789. The first crash happened around 12:45 p.m. The second crash happened when the driver lost control of the truck while trying to avoid hitting a vehicle in front of him. The first driver was not injured, DPS stated, and the other was treated and released on the scene.

Traffic was being diverted on FM 789.

A crash with an 18-wheeler was also reported on East FM 40 near CR 3500, and another near CR 3300. The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office said no serious injuries were reported.
