Tahoka ISD cancels classes Wednesday due to threat, teen arrested

TAHOKA, Texas — Tahoka Independent School District decided to cancel classes on Wednesday due to a threat that was posted on a door in the elementary school.

Tahoka Police Chief, Jeffrey Parker, said a 13-year-old female was taken into custody and charged with Exhibition of a Firearm. He also said upon investigation, law enforcement did not see the threat as “viable.”

Tahoka ISD said in a social media the district and local law enforcement were “taking every precaution to ensure the safety” of its students and staff.

The district said all local and county law enforcement were on TISD campuses and streets.
