LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock was among the cities with the lowest gas prices in Texas this week with an average price of $2.47 a gallon while the national average is $3.10, according to AAA Gas Prices on Thursday.
As of Thursday, Lubbock’s average gas prices were $2.48 for regular, $2.86 for mid, $3.12 for premium and $3.36 for diesel. A month ago, Lubbock gas prices averaged $2.56 for regular, $2.93 for mid, $3.23 for premium and $3.49 for diesel, AAA said.

The current gas prices in Lubbock are nearly 50 cents lower than it was a year ago. AAA showed regular gas was $3.06, mid was $3.36, $3.64 for premium and $4.04 for diesel. These prices may seem high but AAA said the highest recorded gas price in Lubbock was $4.52 for regular on June 14, 2022, and $5.24 for diesel on June 21, 2022.
In Texas, El Paso was listed with the highest gas prices in the state with an average of $3.21 for regular and $3.61 for diesel. AAA said the highest recorded price in El Paso was on June 22 for $4.89 for regular and $5.46 for diesel.
