LUBBOCK, Texas — A City of Lubbock Parks and Recreation Department vehicle was reported stolen on Thursday afternoon, officials confirmed. The stolen vehicle led authorities on a chase that lasted a little more than 20 minutes before it was called off.

The Lubbock Police Department said officers responded to the theft near 19th Street and Aspen Avenue at 2:19 p.m. EverythingLubbock.com’s tower camera captured the chase ending at a residential area near 50th Street and University Avenue.
The Lubbock County Sheriff’s Office said the chase was stopped due to safety concerns for the public and for schools in the area. Another pursuit later started, and a photojournalist confirmed the vehicle was stopped near Alcove Avenue south of 114th Street.
