The High Plains Wine & Food Foundation (HPWFF) presented a $10,000 check to the South Plains College culinary arts program on Jan. 16. The donation will fund impact scholarships for students in the program during the 2024-25 academic year.
HPWFF Secretary Camille Patterson said it is important for the organization to support culinary education.
“We want to see world-class chefs come out of Lubbock, Texas,” Patterson said. “These scholarships were a no-brainer, and we hope to continue funding scholarships for the culinary arts program at South Plains College for a long time.”
Patrick Ramsey, executive chef at the SPC culinary arts program, said scholarships go a long way for students.
“It gives us a great opportunity to provide an education and experience to students who might have some financial shortcomings,” Ramsey said.
