Police ID man found dead after shooting in east Lubbock neighborhood

Police have identified a 54-year-old man who was found dead from a gunshot early Saturday in an east Lubbock neighborhood.

Lubbock police were called at 3:54 a.m. Saturday to the 1700 block of East 27th Street at 3:54 a.m. for a report of a dead body, according to a statement from LPD.Upon arrival, officers located 54-year-old Ruben Sifuentez Velasquez with a gunshot wound. EMS arrived on scene and Velasquez was pronounced deceased.Police said this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to the public.No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
