Lubbock PD car involved in crash on Loop 289 while working traffic control

LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock Police Department confirmed one person had minor injuries after a crash that involved an officer’s vehicle just before noon on Monday.

LPD said the crash happened around 11:50 a.m. in the 5800 block of West Loop 289.

“Due to a traffic incident, W Loop 289 will be closed for southbound traffic from 50th St to Spur 327,” An LBKAlert stated. “Seek alternate routes of travel.”

According to the LPD front desk, the officer was working traffic control for the Texas Department of Transportation when the crash happened.
