Leprino Foods to offer 600 jobs in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas — Since 2021, officials in both Texas and Lubbock have talked about the Leprino Foods facility that is opening just east of Loop 289 on a plot of farmland.

The construction on the mozzarella cheese manufacturing building is projected to finish in November 2024, however, EverythingLubbock.com spoke with officials overseeing the project on Tuesday to see how it is progressing so far.

According to John Obsorne, who is the CEO of Lubbock Economic Development Alliance (LEDA), said the project is on track to finish on time.

What used to be an empty field is now occupied by the entire structure of the new facility. Now, construction workers are moving equipment into the building and paving roads to make it easier for milk trucks to get in and out.

“That’s a big mega project for any community and for Lubbock to land one of those – the largest ever capital investment project in Lubbock’s history – was amazing,” Osborne said.
